Dr King Called Blacks Who Reject Laws To Protect Black Americans Traitors Thus Clarence Thomas - ATLNews

Dr King Called Blacks Who Reject Laws To Protect Black Americans Traitors Thus Clarence Thomas In a speech at The New School, February 6, 1964, Re-broadcast on WAMF on December 8, 1964 Dr. King said this: There are Negroes who will never fight for freedom. There are Negroes who seek profit for themselves alone from the struggle. There are even some Negroes who will go over to the other side. These facts should distress no one. Every minority and every people has its share of opportunists, traitors, freeloaders and escapists. The hammer blows of discrimination, poverty and segregation must warp and corrupt some. No one can pretend that because a people may be oppressed, every individual member is virtuous and worthy. The real issue is whether in the great mass the dominant characteristics are decency, honor and courage. I think it is fair to say Martin Luther King was referring to people like Clarence Thomas and Ward Connerly. Stay tuned.

When SR-71 Flew So Fast That F-15 Eagle's Radar Couldn't See It In 1980s #shorts - ATLNews

In the 1980s, to give the US Navy's F-14 Tomcats, and the US Air Force's F-15 Eagles practice locating, following, locking on, intercepting, and simulating the firing of the F-14's and F-15's sophisticated Aim-54 Phoenix and Aim-7 Sparrow missiles at a high altitude, high speed target, the SR-71 Blackbird flew "Tomcat Chase" and "Eagle Bait" sorties with them. The intercepts were done in an extremely regulated environment, which enabled the fighter jets to succeed. American fighter pilots were only capable of securing a lock on the SR-71 after the Blackbird crew switched off its protective countermeasures. Even under these carefully regulated flight conditions, the SR-71 was moving so fast that the F-14s and F-15s had severe difficulty achieving an effective SR-71 kill. Unless the SR-71 was damaged, it was nearly impossible to get a lock on it. A speed barrier at 1500 knots was visible on the F-15 Eagle's radar, while the SR-71 was comfortably cruising between 1850 and 2000 knots, thus, the Blackbird was literally nonexistent for the F-15 Eagles. #shorts #youtubeshorts #sr71 #f15eagle #radar #1980s

Oak View Group Has $10 Billion For Las Vegas NBA Arena Warriors Relocate To Las Vegas Possible - ATLNews

Oak View Group Has $10 Billion For Las Vegas NBA Arena & Sports Campus, Warriors Relocating To Las Vegas Is Possible The fist time I presented this, I reported the following: The plan presented by Oak View Group CEO Tim Leiweke (who I recall from his effort to bring the NFL to Downtown Los Angeles), is to build a $10 billion sports campus resort that contains an NBA-ready arena of 20,000 seats. The Oak View Group is said to want either an expansion NBA team or an existing. But my bet is that they're going to need as big a pop as possible to pay off the private bond issues, and to get that, what better NBA team to target than the Golden State Warriors? And lest you think I'm presenting a pipe-dream, let me report that former Raiders President Marc Badain and Joe Lacob do talk and have a terrific relationship. They were most recently spotted July 8th. 2021 in Las Vegas, and for the Vegas Magazine Cover Party with Host Andra Day at The h.wood Group's Grand Opening of Delilah at Wynn Las Vegas. Some of your reactions were down right angry. @deanwille334- Warriors have a new arena! NBA wouldn’t approve a move. Vegas is dreaming. Joe Lacob is not like Mark Davis and John Fisher @lovejoyb20- One of these days the people of Oakland will realize that Las Vegas doesn't want ANY of your teams. We didn't want the Raiders, we sure as hell don't want the A's, and if AEG builds a 10 billion dollar complex with a basketball arena as has been suggested, it will be for an expansion team. @1870dav- Lol comparing leave Oakland to SF as the same as SF to Vegas. The difference is about 600 miles. The most valuable franchise in the NBA with a brand new arena isn't leaving for Vegas or anywhere. Others got the logic. @keithwillis3761 - Unlike the A's the Warriors don't have to say anything until the Venue is built; if they move they can do it overnight. No outcry to hear while in the Bay Area. And time it with a Huge acquisitions that blow up the salary cap tax; they can easily cover with the new deal and venue. Oh I think your right makes too much sense. I know the media talks about the Tech$$; but those tech guys are in Vegas a ton also I personally witnessed that. And no state income tax automatically rises the value of contracts. This seems very very plausible. I usually only go to one or two games a year; so making it a Vegas trip doesn't seem that much of a stretch for me personally. And you add the High Speed rail service from Brightline. Oh boy. Vegas is just out competing every other city. Being that close to LA really helps also. If Vegas starts stealing that LA media market it's a wrap. Are they going to offer ESPN a $0 dollar HQ?? @mjwings3228 - Don't see why East Bay fans would care, The Dubs already left Oak. Zennie's take would certainly be something Lacob would consider even if he says hell no in public. That's a lot of money, ect. Opportunity. My point is there would be no story if OVG had $4 billion. But they have $10 billion. Plus, high speed rail is set to go next door. That would make Las Vegas the top sports destination for people in Los Angeles. The Commodification Of Sports Franchises The Oak View Group has 16 stadiums and arenas completed and arguably is starting what I will call the "Commodification Of Sports Franchises". I came to that idea after being pitched to buy a food franchise. What if it were a sports franchise? Just a thought. There is too much sports going on seeking money for that not to be a logical end result. But that means more and more team movement, not less. That's what is happening. Stay tuned.

"Share a Shaka" Monument Concept - ATLNews

“Share a Shaka” is an 8' tall bronze monument that's a gift to Waikiki, City of Honolulu by Project Shaka, a program of Hawaii 501C3 nonprofit Bizgenics/ID8 (see https://ift.tt/hLqj9zB). This video is a computer animation of the proposed monument. The project grew out of “Shaka, A Story of Aloha”, a documentary produced by Bizgenics/ID8 in association with Henry Kapono Foundation and Sight & Sound Hawai‘i. Kamehameha Schools is also involved as it provided first funding and cultural consultants. Noteworthy members of the film’s creative team include Grammy nominated music director Henry Kapono, award-winning Hawaiian Director Alex Boccheri, Co-Exec Producer Bryan Spicer (producer/director of Hawaii Five-O and Magnum PI) and Exec Producer/Producer Steve Sue. Additional Project Shaka programs include a thought leader Shaka Summit (suggested and moderated by First Lady Dawn Ige and additional sessions moderated by Senator Glenn Wakai), a free Shaka Sticker program (suggested by Vicky Cayetano), a Shaka Curriculum series (commissioned by the Hawaii Workforce Development Council and implemented at the State Youth Services Center), and a Hawaii Shaka License Plate program (suggested by Ryan Ozawa). The intent of the monument is to share the aloha spirit with the world. It’s also intended to provide a modern photo opportunity that builds Hawaii’s brand in a strong and positive light. Location Requirements. The ideal location should offer the following attributes: High visibility to attract both locals and visitors; a public location to share it with the people; a distinctive view for the monument to frame; space for the public to pose for and take photographs, and; a sunny location to repel birds (see below). The Design. The monument is designed to act as a statement of aloha ’aina designed as a permeable frame to highlight an iconic Hawai’i view. Unlike most traditional monuments that are designed as barrier backdrops, the intent of this piece is as an “un-monument” that honors and serves the land and sea beyond. The monument is intended to reflect the colors of the surrounding environment to elegantly integrate with and become part of the landscape rather than dominate it. A brushed finish allows for ambient color reflection without causing the potential glare of a polished monument. Brush stainless is also a more casual presentation that is in keeping with the casual nature of Hawai’i. It's also designed to be an iconic and timeless expression of the Shaka gesture as a city asset that will stand the test of time. And it's designed to be vandal resistant: Minimal surface area minimizes the threat of graffiti. Impermeable stainless steel makes it easy to remove paint and other substances. It can also be easily resurfaced if scratched. Placing it in a highly public location reduced the threat of vandalism. The monument is also bird resistant as birds do not like glaring light or being on hot objects, thus stainless steel in a sunny location minimizes the threat of birds. It's also climbing resistant as the height, shape, rounded edges and slickness of the surface make it difficult to climb. The height of the top members was calculated to be out of reach for the vast majority of people. The shape was calculated to be too large a diameter for most people to be able to encircle. Rounded edge radii were calculated to eliminate finger holds for most people. The stainless steel surface is slick thus difficult to gain traction on. In the sun, the monument will conduct heat, making it uncomfortable to touch. Installing it in a raised plant bed with shrubs at the base will discourage people from getting close to the monument. Footing Options: Depending upon selected location, different footing options are available. No footing option: If on a landscape strip such as a lawn surface, the monument could spring out of the ground with no visible footing. If this option is selected, the landscape should be splash resistant like a lawn surface to keep the monument’s lower legs clean. This installation is the ultimate expression of the “un-monument” concept as it removes the idea of the traditional base of a monument. Footing with Shrubs: A raised footing can be encircled by shrubs. This serves to raise the monument and reduce the likelihood of people touching or climbing the monument. No Lighting. For greatest consistency with the concept of being an “aloha ’aina” frame, the monument should NOT be lit. At dusk, the silhouette is consistent with other objects in a foreground skyline. At night, lighting the face of the monument would effectively make it a barrier to the view beyond (consider moon lit nights, stars or lights beyond) however minimal uplighting might be useful depending upon the location. One exception to face lighting the monument is the use of temporary show lighting for special occasions such as shows at the Hula Mound (brush stainless steel is a superior finish for scenic lighting).

OAKLAND MUST FIGHT FOR MLB EXPANSION AND PUSH SAN JOSE OUT OF THE WAY - ATLNews

Here we go again with Oakland getting picked on by a Bay Area neighbor. For the Warriors, it was San Francisco, and now for baseball territory, it's San Jose. From what I see, current San Jose mayor Matt Mahan and four former San Jose mayors — Sam Liccardo, Chuck Reed, Ron Gonzales and Tom McEnery — wrote a letter that called on Major League Baseball to allow for Santa Clara County to be released from being part of the territory of the San Francisco Giants. They are trying to get a new expansion team for themselves and could not care about Oakland. Meanwhile, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao has put all of her effort on a failed attempt to stop the Nevada Legislature from approving funding for the A's Las Vegas Ballpark. Then, she took off for Vietnam. This is one time Oakland needs to fight and stop letting other cities push it around or out of the way. We have to immediately marshall all of the East Bay Mayors and make Major League Baseball an offer to put an expansion team in Oakland. We have to push San Jose out of the way. Just like we should have pushed Las Vegas and San Francisco out of the way. Stay tuned.

Oakland's Loss Of The Oakland A's To Las Vegas Really Started 4 Years Ago - ATLNews

The Oakland Athletics were approved for funding a $1.5 billion ballpark to be built on land currently occupied by The Tropicana Hotel on The Las Vegas Strip. While many have said that Las Vegas did in two years in gaining a stadium funding agreement, Oakland didn't do in a generation. It's easy to forget Portland, and my Aug 27, 2019 vlog reporting that the A's were deep into planning what I called a “Raiders Style exit' from Oakland. Meanwhile, MLB and the A's started also talking to Las Vegas about relocation that same year. A couple of real estate developer friends passed that info to me, and eventually, the A's would visit Portland, giving serious signals that the team wasn't long to be “Rooted In Oakland”. But on May 12, 2021, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman tweeted that she and her team were quietly in talks with the Oakland A's about a possible move since 2019. The Oakland / Las Vegas “parallel paths” term that Kaval started using two years ago, really started almost simultaneously with the planning of Howard Terminal in Oakland in 2019. This version of the Oakland A's, owned first by Lew Wolff, then by John Fisher with Dave Kaval as A's President, finally achived their objective of finding land and public money assistance for a ballpark. Trouble is, after trying in Oakland in 2000 at Laney College, then 2006 next to the Coliseum, then 2012 at Howard Terminal, and then rebuffed againt at Laney College, then not seeing Howard Terminal happen in a timely fashion, Dave Kaval turned to Las Vegas – and earlier than most people think. The emergence of Las Vegas as a competitor city to Oakland for the A's really started in the wake of the Raiders move to Las Vegas after NFL approval on March 26th, 2017. Raiders Owner Mark Davis was encouraged by a 2014 UNLV study that showed how to make sports betting more secure and reliable. Trouble is, Las Vegas was still part of a small number of states that allowed sports gambling; the overall industry's growth was blocked by decades of legislation. But 2018 saw rapid change favorable to Las Vegas and due to the Raiders move and the Supreme Court. Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred first mentioned Las Vegas as a candidate for expansion July 17, 2018, when he said “I think Vegas is a viable expansion alternative,” on “The Dan Patrick Show.” “I think it’s big enough.” That would not have happened but for May 14, 2018, and Murphy v. NCAA, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) Monday, and made it legal for states to draft their own regulations for local sports betting. While Major League Baseball's prohibitions on betting made change to accept sports betting slow, MLB was encouraged by a 2018 study that reported that the four major sports leagues will earn a collective $4.2 billion from widely available legal sports betting and of that $1.1 billion for baseball. Since Las Vegas was and has been the run-away leader in the gaming indusry, any sporta team located their gained a tremendous advantage due to easy access to experts in the field, and far more so than most states except New Jersey. But what caused MLB and Oakland to eventually move to the idea of relocating the A's, was what Commissioner Manfred called “the stadium situation” in Oakland and Tampa, plus the fact that California did not, and still does not allow, sports betting. While sports gambling moved to legality in 2018, that same year the Oakland A's signed an agreement with the City of Oakland that allowed the team to pay for City staff-time toward predevelopment work toward eventully securing a development agreement and a funding agreement sparking the groundbreaking for Howard Terminal Ballpark. So, at this point, Las Vegas was in the exploratory stage, as it was seen more as a candidate for expansion. Meanwhile, Portland, hungry to get an MLB team, saw the Oakland A's as nearby and vulnerable, and so aggressively went after the organization. But then, in 2019, the City of Oakland started working with the A's and the California Legislature toward the passage of two bills, SB 293 Skinner (named for California State Senator Nancy Skinner), and AB 734 Bonta, (named for California Assemblyman now Attorney General Rob Bonta). California Governor Gavin Newsom signed both into law October 11th, 2019. And on March 14th, 2019, the City of Oakland hired real estate executive and friend of Oakland Assistant City Administrator Betsy Lake, Molly Maybrun, as the Project Manager for The Howard Terminal Ballpark Project. So, Howard Terminal seemed to be on its way. But 2020 showed a dramatic slow-down, because the City of Oakland never bothered to create a public financing authority to steer stadium development. Stay tuned.

Join Gwinnett County Public Library as we chronicle a part of Georgia history - the story of Oscarville, Georgia where 1,100 black people once thrived. We discuss their amazing resilience in securing land, livelihoods, and financial success only 47 years out of slavery; and recount the tragedy of the racial expulsion of 1912 that displaced them, caused great loss, and the eventual emergence of Lake Lanier. Zennie Abraham Gives Coliseum City Oakland Raiders Stadium Presentation At Luka's, Sept 23 2015 - ATLNews

Zennie Abraham Gives Coliseum City Oakland Raiders Stadium Presentation At Luka's Taproom, September 23 2015 This was a lecture to present a plan for new version of Coliseum City based around a proposed plan for a Raiders Stadium and Hotel Complex. The event was a result of Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis asking me to come up with a stadium plan (with long-time friend Mike Silver as my witness) while we were at the NFL Spring League Meeting held that May in San Francisco. The plan I formed was based on Mark's statement that he needed $400 million from the City of Oakland in order to make the financing work from his perspective. The plan I created drew that $400 million from the net operating income of a planned 1,100 room hotel that would be built in such a way that it was connected to the newly rebuilt stadium by way of an entrance pavilion. The idea of the meeting at Luka's was to present the plan to members of "Save Oakland Sports" to drum up support. Gary Flaxman used my Flip Video Camera, but at one point he decided to turn it 45 degrees - not sure why to this day, but it's only a small segment of time in the total presentation, the rest of which is shown normally. In the picture is my friend and former boss former Oakland Mayor Elihu Harris. Unfortunately, Luka's is closed now. It was a victim of the Pandemic and Oakland's complete lack of any economic development program to save small businesses. Stay tuned. NFL News Bill Carroll-32 Teams-32 Days- Cardinals Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins, Steve Keim, Monti Ossenfort Join Zennie62 YouTube channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqtc118chzxCUJExjeWbeEA/join When they signed defensive end J.J. Watt and running back James Conner, the Cardinals showed the rest of the league just how aggressive they can be in the free agency. But after a modicum of success, Monti Ossenfort was hired, after a decade of Steve Keim running the team. Keim had been with the team since he started as a regional scout in 1999. With the departure of Keim, the Cardinals have made some philosophical shifts. With Ossenfort served as director of college scouting (2014-19), assistant director of college scouting (2011-13), national scout (2008-10), area scout (2006-07), and a personnel assistant (2003). He was also with the Houston Texans as a pro and college scout. The Patriot Way" trading back in the draft and collecting picks. Manipulating circumstances to find value picks on both the offensive line and in the defensive backs grouping. For Ossenfort specifically, he played a role in drafting players such as outstanding former Cardinals OLB Chandler Jones as well as quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett, and Jarrett Stidham. Other skill players were: Sony Michel, Damien Harris, and former Arizona State standout WR N’Keal Harry. On the offensive line, he drafted future All-Pro Joe Thuney as well as Isaiah Wynn and Shaq Mason who mostly, played well. Oakland A's Never Said Las Vegas Ballpark Needed To Sellout To Pencil-Out, Bad Journalists Did - ATLNews

It's sad that in sports in America, an unpopular team relocation decision automatically leads to bad journalism, but that's the case with the Oakland Athletics' plan to build a $1.5 billion ballpark in Las Vegas, and on land currently occupied by the Tropicana Hotel. The Oakland A's recently announced that the ballpark is expected to draw 2.5 million visitors. The whole mess started with Bally's press release, which read, in part, “The ballpark is expected to welcome more than 2.5 million fans and visitors annually, and will be a one-of-a-kind asset for the Las Vegas Strip” and “The new ballpark will accommodate approximately 30,000 fans.” No where in the press release did Bally's say that the proposed ballpark would need 30,000 fans for the bond issue to be paid. Journalists (most notably with the L.A. Times) unthinkingly hopped on that “2.5 million fans “ number to assume that it meant the A's were saying each game would draw over 30,000 visitors, and that each person would have a seat. In point of fact, neither Bally's nor the A's said that. Given that Bally's announced its intention to attract other developer partners, writing “Bally's retains the ability to assign the rights to all aspects of this development and has received material interest from development partners”, it's fair to assume that there will be a standing-room-only ticket sales provision, the better to assure that patrons flow from ballpark to other land uses in the sports and entertainment district. The trouble is, folks who call themselves journalists, didn't stop to think about the ballpark from the perspective of a stadium developer, let alone ask questions that would reflect a stadium developer's perspective. Indeed, this entire affair reveals that the modern journalist is really a blogger absent the number one rule of Blogger's Ethics: always state your biases and never fein objectivity. So, the biased journalist trots out my friend, Stanford Profesor Roger Noll, who's a really heck of a nice man, but has a terrible bias that comes into his work in evaluating the economic performance of stadium proposals. We know each other from my days as Founder and CEO of Sports Business Simulations, where I created the Oakland Baseball Simworld game for the classroom. Anyway, Roger did the unthinking thing, where he forgot that the stadium's part of a larger development project, and assumed that the A's were projecting that each ticket sold was for a seat, rather than SRO and seating. In other words, Professor Noll tried to assume something wrong with the proposal, rather that follow its land use layout to its logical conclusion that bears repeating: the ballpark is part of a sports and entertainment complex where visitors can watch baseball and do other things, all in one visit. Call it a compact version of what Oakland Coliseum City is supposed to be, just in Las Vegas. And as for the numbers Bally's put out, Roger was clearly missing the real news: that the projected tax revenues would be enough to pay off the $120 million bond issue in 5 years, even though the debt service is spread over 30 years. Assuming an interest rate of 6 percent, the debt service over 30 years totals $261,536,081, or $8,717,869, annually. Meanwhile the expected tax revenue is $38.8 million from one-time construction, $17 million annually, and $36.5 million, annually from “incremental visitation”, totals $92.3 million in year one, and then $53.5 million each year, thereafter. So, over a four year period, that totals $306 million, or a difference of a positive $44.764 million, and that's leaving another 25 years of tax revenue collection for the bond. So, it's quite clear that just taking a little time to crunch the numbers reveals that the ballpark complex does pay for itself. If journalists of today acted like objective operators they claim to be, perhaps we'd get a real, honest look at stadium proposals, Stay tuned.

Did Molly Maybrun Oakland’s Howard Terminal Project Manager, Leave Or Is On As Consultant? - ATLNews

Did Molly Maybrun Oakland’s Howard Terminal Project Manager, Leave Or Is On As Consultant? Does Mayor Thao’s still have her as Point Person? Molly Maybrun has served as the Howard Terminal Ballpark Project Manager since March of 2019. For that time, she's proudly put that she held that title and worked for the City of Oakland in her Linkedin Page Profile; now, it simply reads that she's a Real Estate Development Executive, with no association to anyone. But, her City of Oakland experience reads that she's still working with the City, even as Linkedin refers to her in the past-tense. My hypothesis is that she's still on as a consultant. But all of this is clearly related to the A's focus on moving to Las Vegas. It also points to a possible lowering of focus on the task of redeveloping Oakland's Waterfront. And she may be a casualty of Oakland's expected large budget deficit, as well. Whatever the case, it's a sad end to the Howard Terminal Project as one that has the high-priority designation of the City of Oakland. Which begs the question: what would happen if the A's turned around and elected to try and stay in Oakland? Can the City of Oakland afford the effort? Well, if the City of Oakland actually started using tax increment financing, the answer would be a giant "YES". Stay tuned.
