SpaceX Launch Starship Flight Test! Elon Musk gives update on Starship! - ATLNews

SpaceX is targeting for the first flight test of a fully integrated Starship and Super Heavy rocket from Starbase in Texas. Starship is a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, help humanity return to the Moon and travel to Mars and beyond. With a test such as this, success is measured by how much we can learn, which will inform and improve the probability of success in the future as SpaceX rapidly advances development of Starship. To date, the SpaceX team has completed multiple sub-orbital flight tests of Starship’s upper stage from Starbase, successfully demonstrating an unprecedented approach to controlled flight. These flight tests helped validate the vehicle’s design, proving Starship can fly through the subsonic phase of entry before re-lighting its engines and flipping itself to a vertical configuration for landing. In addition to the testing of Starship’s upper stage, the team has conducted numerous tests of the Super Heavy rocket, which include the increasingly complex static fires that led to a full-duration 31 Raptor engine test – the largest number of simultaneous rocket engine ignitions in history. The team has also constructed the world’s tallest rocket launch and catch tower. At 146 meters, or nearly 500 feet tall, the launch and catch tower is designed to support vehicle integration, launch, and catch of the Super Heavy rocket booster. For the first flight test, the team will not attempt a vertical landing of Starship or a catch of the Super Heavy booster. A live webcast of the flight test will begin ~45 minutes before liftoff. As is the case with all developmental testing, this schedule is dynamic and likely to change, so be sure to stay tuned to our social media channels for updates.

NFL Draft 2022 Las Vegas Memories: Zennie Abraham Gets Epic Wheelchair Ride From Draft Worker - ATLNews

NFL Draft 2022 Las Vegas Memories: Zennie Abraham Gets Epic Wheelchair Ride From Draft Worker An unforgettable and fun experience (with a little testimony to the Lord mixed it). I was beset with massive pain and could barely walk. Thankfully, the convention workers over where the NFL Draft Media Area (where Caesar's Forum was located) saw how I was waking and took pity on me and got this wheelchair. And the ride was nice, as was the conversation about the power of The Lord. Stay tuned. Seems Oakland City Council Will “Accept Unlawful Evictions”, Dump Eviction Moratorium - ATLNews

There are some in Oakland who are trying to convince the world that the Pandemic is over, when the truth is it's still with us, and we have the prospect of reccesstion facing us, caused by crazy Fed Reserve Policy. But the Oakland City Council is ready to go along with other California cities that don't have Oakland's giant homeless problem, and dump its eviction moratorium. That even as it's known that many Oakland landlords did get rental aide for their tenants units, and separate from the renters. On Twitter, yesterday, newly elected Oakland District Four Councilmember Janani Ramachandran tweeted this: “I’m proud to support Council President Bas’s amended legislation to wind down the eviction moratorium. The harsh reality is that no realistic proposal is going to avoid some amount of unjust evictions for vulnerable tenants, nor will make the many small landlords who were (1/3) unable to get financial relief for unpaid whole. I believe this compromise reflects thoughtful leadership despite the circumstances, and I hope to collaborate with my colleagues to prepare for the next phase of addressing our housing crisis. (2/3) Please feel free to contact me & my team directly if you have questions or feedback, I welcome civil discourse and constructive debate. (3/3).” It seems that Councilmember Ramachandran did not stop to consider how the City could, itself, step in and make the tenants whole by making sure they weren't dumped out on the street by landlords who got aide from Oakland or the State of California on the tenant's units, and then sought to push out the tenants. There's no rush to do that, and every reason to hurry up and get money to both landlords and tenants, because of the weak economy, the looming recession, and the fact that the inital renter aide programs were under-funded, to start with. Moreover, the Oakland City Council knew it. Take what Oakland District Three Councilmember Carroll Fife wrote last year: Date: April 28, 2022 To: Members of City Council and Members of the Public From: Councilmember Fife and Vice Mayor Kaplan Fulfillment of Outstanding Rental Assistance Applications Re: Dear Colleagues on the City Council and Members of the Public, In 2020, the long-standing housing affordability crisis intensified when the COVID-19 pandemic sparked an economic and public health crisis that threatened the housing stability and lives of millions of renters in California. Throughout the past two years, low-income renters who struggled to pay rent before the COVID-19 pandemic were put in an even more precarious position to pay rent due to job loss and increased expenses. Currently, 730,000 California households are behind on rent, the total rent debt amounting to approximately $3.2 billion, based on analyses of rent relief distributions from the US Treasury Report and Census Household Pulse Survey Data through March 2022. In response to the growing need to support renters who were and continue to be at risk of losing their housing, the Federal government and States allocated funding to local jurisdictions to establish rental assistance programs. However, many tenants have struggled to receive assistance because of oversubscription and administrative issues with the programs. This resolution, therefore, calls upon the State of California to fulfill all outstanding rental applications that meet the eligibility requirements, and clarifies that the City of Oakland did not, and does not, opt out of the State’s announced March 31, 2022 Safe Harbor Program for applicants." In other words, the Oakland City Council did know there was a problem where rental aide was underfunded, yet even with legal tools like tax increment financing, the City of Oakland did nothing to create a funding war chest for landlords and tenants. Now, we have a situation where Oakland's City Council wants to dump its eviction moratorium even as we're in the Pandemic and facing a recession, and it's clear that some Oakland landlords got aide and are now trying to kick tenants out. This is making a City of Oakland Government actually look like it doesn't care to do any truly meaningful policy work, let alone file a lawsuit against the State of California to get the help tenants and landlords need. Stay tuned.

Happy Easter: “He is not here, but is risen!” - ATLNews

Happy Easter: “He is not here, but is risen!” At this time of year when new life is bursting forth, we celebrate that great Easter morning when the angel declared: “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen” (Luke 24:3-6). Gospel of Luke 24 1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, while they were perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel: 5 and as they were affrighted and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7 saying that the Son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 Now they were Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James: and the other women with them told these things unto the apostles. 11 And these words appeared in their sight as idle talk; and they disbelieved them. 12 But Peter arose, and ran unto the tomb; and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths by themselves; and he departed to his home, wondering at that which was come to pass. Oakland A's Reasons For Pessimism With Howard Terminal Ballpark Project - ATLNews

Ok, Oakland A's Fans, on the matter of Howard Terminal Ballpark Project, you've seen all of the rosy headlines, thumbnails, and tweets giving you hope that a ballpark will really be constructed on that site in Oakland, right? Reasons to be optimistic. Ok, well, here's your boy Zennie Abraham, with a spoon full of medicine to snap you out of your Fantasyland (sorry Disney), and bring you right back to Earth. Very real reasons to be pessimistic that Howard Terminal will ever get done. Let's line them up, shall we? One: Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has said they're focused on Las Vegas, and are done talking about Oakland. Yep, that's what Commissioner Manfred said late last year. Regardless of what you think of him, Rob Manfred is the Commissioner of Major League Baseball, and sets the tone for the organization, which includes our beloved Oakland A's. Rob Manfred said that because Oakland A's President Dave Kaval was not in a position to tell that truth and for a host of reasons there: foremost among them it would almost completely stop people from coming to watch the team at the Coliseum (even though the losses to the Angels kinda helped with that, early on). Manfred also said that because he's sick and tired of waiting for the City of Oakland to get over its penchant for bureaucratic malaize and over-politization, which was waisted three years of the almost five years this version of Howard Terminal Ballpark has been a thing. Everyone knows Las Vegas offers a better way forward regarding actual implementation. Indeed, if you look at stadium progress in Nashville and Buffalo, or even renovations to Lambeau Field or Gillette Stadium in Green Bay and Boston, respectively, Oakland looks like it's standing completely still. It's even alergic to improving the existing Coliseum, allowing it to be ran as if it's a giant high school gym, and little more than that. And all of that, even with a bad economy, which gets to my next point. The bad economy is holding up development projects around America, and there's no reason to think Oakland's not immune to that, especially at Howard Terminal, and even in Las Vegas. The problems of inflation, rising labor and material costs, and supply issues (two of those issues are solvable if the Fed Chair stops acting like a drunk driver and takes his foot off the interest rate gas), are hampering many sports stadium and facility projects from getting past the drawings stage. Take a read at what the folks representing Houston Billionaire Tilman Fertita's planned Las Vegas Casino said just three weeks ago to the The Nevada Independent : “It's very expensive to build right in an inflationary environment,” Steven Scheinthal, a vice president with Fertitta Entertainment, said in a brief interview with The Nevada Independent following an appearance in front of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. What we're doing is going through with our options and trying to understand what the development process would entail,” Scheinthal said. “Tilman, at some point, can decide whether he wants to go forward or not.” In Howard Terminal's case, and presenting the next reason for pessimism, there's zero public subsidy officially committed to the ballpark project, and the City of Oakland's slowness at doing anything meaningful closed the door on implementing a tax increment financing zone three years ago, if only to start collection on revenue that could, at least, have been used for administrative costs. Even now, implementing an EIFD would take another years worth of planning, negotiations, and approvals, and what has the City done? Nothing. You can talk, talk, talk, but if there's no money to do, do, do, you have nothing but empty promisses in the end. One promise is a truth and our next and final reason for now: the Oakland A's have lobbyists and architects at work in Las Vegas and regarding a Las Vegas ballpark. Meanwhile, there's no real progress, no money, an economic slow-down, and bureaucratic lethargy, over-politization, and a disinterested Major League Baseball Commissioner, with respect to Oakland. Stay tuned.

Why Oakland Is Behind With Howard Terminal Ballpark - ATLNews

Ok, here's the totally, completely, unvarnished, hard, difficult truth why the City of Oakland is so far behind where it should be in helping the Oakland Athletics build a ballpark at Howard Terminal. The simple set of reasons I am about to roll out can be summed up in one word: over-politicization. That's right: over-politicization. Robert Bobb's Downtown Ballpark Dream Dashed By Jerry Brown The fact is the structure for Oakland's bureaucratic slowness was formed with the passage of “Measure X”, then-Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown's version of a long-sought-after form of government called Strong Mayor. Passed in 1998, it took effect in 1999, and matted Brown with a person who was every-bit his match on the city administrative side: then-City Manager Robert Bobb. Mr. Bobb, who was trained in the traditional fashion of city managers, to, well, run a city, including it's public-private-partnerships, and who wanted Oakland to “Host Super Bowls and build ballparks” as he said at an early February 1999 city staff meeting I attended (as the new city consultant who was Economic Advisor to the previous Mayor Elihu Harris) to plan for Oakland's then-annual trip to Las Vegas for the International Council of Shopping Center's Spring Convention. As it turned out, Bobb's dreams for Oakland clashed head-long with Brown's in Bobb's pursuit of a downtown ballpark for the Oakland A's in 2002 (and after Bobb hired me to form a bid for Oakland to host the 2005 Super Bowl). Brown fired Bobb, who then was almost immediately snatched up by Washington DC, and successfully brought Major League Baseball there, along with a downtown ballpark. In short, Oakland's version of strong mayor pushed out many a trained city-builder, and left in its place an organizational habit of elected officials using big projects to burnish their own images, and accomplish nothing in return by completing those big projects. The Oakland A's quest for a ballpark home has been victimized by it. Indeed, Oakland's version of strong mayor is why Oakland has lost all of its professional sports teams, and has done nothing to try and replace any of them. Ron Dellums Plays Political Games With Oakland's Ballpark Dreams In the case of the now-late Ron Dellums, the great congressman had the sad habit of playing ballpark advocates against each other, with one wanting a building at the Coliseum and the other at Howard Terminal, and both coming up short. Rather than one giant task force to determine what should be done, and one that should have been led by Oakland's Economic Development Department, and a person who was trained at implementing large-scale projects, Dellums allowed many task forces to form, even one by the Oakland Chamber of Commerce, who's job is to help the City of Oakland, and not lead it in a direction of its own making. But, to be sure, the person who's face was on the entire affair was Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums, and no one else. Oakland Councilmember Larry Reid worked to try and carve out a larger role, but again, it was an example of an elected official's hand being in the pot, and not a city-building city official. Then came Oakland Mayor Jean Quan. Mayor Quan Doesn't Let Fred Blackwell Be The Face of Oakland Sports Business Retention Unlike Brown and Dellums, Mayor Quan smartly put Oakland Eonomic Development Director Fred Blackwell in charge of projects, including a new arena for the Warriors, a new stadium for the Raiders, and a new arena for the Warriors. Unfortunately, Quan and the Oakland City Council's insistance on having themselves as the face of the efforts, led to bungled lease negotiations with the A's and Alameda County, and the embarassing idea that the financing fortunes of the planned Coliseum City were in the hands of the Prince of Dubai, rather than a complex financing plan typical of such large scale public-private partnerships. Then came Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf. Libby Schaaf's Jerry Brown Playbook Fails As Raiders Leave Oakland Continued here at Zennie62Media's Oakland News Online: https://ift.tt/31SjORD
