Mark Davis - Oakland Raiders Owner Doesn't Have $500 Million For Las Vegas Stadium
Mark Davis - Oakland Raiders Owner Doesn't Have $500 Million For Las Vegas Stadium
Mark Davis - Oakland Raiders Owner Doesn't Have $500 Million For Las Vegas Stadium Last year Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis said he has $500 million he can put toward a new stadium at Coliseum City. Well, isn't it interesting that he just happens to have the same $500 million for Las Vegas? What with all of the NFL Draft player spending and all? Folks, Mark Davis does not have $500 million in cash laying around at all. That is the total amount in amortized stadium revenue from club seats and luxury suites he is willing to part with over a period of years - generally about 49 years. That is money that would be used on a lease revenue bond issue. But it's only one third of what he needs in Las Vegas - he wants the rest to come from the government and that is based on tourism estimates that are dangerous to count on. Stay tuned.

Social Media Can Ruin A Relationship - My Vlogger Example Social Media is a great societal mirror that can show life as we have never seen it before. Social Media Is Divided Into Open Networkers And Digital Cocooners
Social Media Is Divided Into Open Networkers And Digital Cocooners
Social Media Is Divided Into Open Networkers And Digital Cocooners Social Media today is divided into two camps, as I see it: open networkers and digital cocooners. The open networkers are people like myself, who may be Linkedin Open Networkers or something approaching that philosophy. The open networkers, or in Linkedin parlance "LIONS", connect with anyone located anywhere - they aren't concerned with whether they've actually met the person. The open networkers have giant sets of followers and connections not just on Linkedin, but on Twitter and Facebook, and other social media platforms. The advantage of this approach is the obvious ability to spread a message far and as wide as your social media friend, and their friends, allow. This approach emerged during the mid 2000s and is still in use today - except that it has a counter. That opposite are what I call the "Digital Cocooners". The Digital Cocooners only want to connect with a small set of people they claim to know or who are like minded. Their app of choice is less Facebook than it is a messaging app. And when they use Twitter, they tend to have small accounts with follower numbers far lower than the 208 account average - sometimes as small as three or five. They have a narrow interest and seldom, if ever, wander outside of that field. Digital Cocooners are bad for society. With every new platform that encourages private networking and not public sharing, we form a society where we don't listen to each other and develop impatience over the slightest differences in opinion. The only way to stop the continued growth of this society is to create the platform that is both the killer messaging app and the killer social media app all at the same time. Can we do it? We must. Stay tuned.

Hey Tara Hunt The Drop In Personal Social Media Sharing Is Due To Generational Change
Hey Tara Hunt The Drop In Personal Social Media Sharing Is Due To Generational Change
Tara Hunt created a LinkedIn vlog and blog that says personal sharing on Facebook is down 21 percent and the reason for this is a kind of social malaise. I disagree. I think the reason is generational change, both in people and technology. There has emerged a generation of people who share via private text message but not as much, if at all, via Facebook or Foursquare. It's to the point where I can easily claim the mayorship at places around the country where it was harder to do that even two years ago. Over that time we have had a splash of messaging devices and venture capitalists looking for the next killer app in that category. That money, in the past, would have went to a social media platform - far less so today. So we have a generation that texts a ton but shares less than we ever did. Instagram posts are used to install photos and because of its design, is not as much the personal sharing device as it is the "personal image" platform. You can post a photo, but I don't necessarily know where you are - that is secondary. What do you think? I am going to follow up with a vlog on how some people don't like social media open networking - the most active form of social media activity there is. Stay tuned.

St. Louis Man was so pissed he held up a sign at NFL Draft Town. I had to talk with him. This fan of the now former St. Louis Rams thinks the team fooled the NFL and planned to move to LA for years but made it look like they wanted to stay in St. Louis. With all that he is uncertain if a lawsuit is the best move, thinking St. Louis may want to have its own NFL team. Stay tuned.
