Brandenburg Labs to Exhibit at NAMM 2026: First Ever Augmented Reality Headphones System

Brandenburg Labs to Exhibit at NAMM 2026: First Ever Augmented Reality Headphones System Available now for professional users, Okeanos Pro marks the debut of Brandenburg Labs’ cutting-edge headphone-based Okeanos Systems, a product line powered by Brandenburg’s innovative Deep Dive Audio (DDA) technology. This advanced headphone system is designed to deliver an unparalleled listening experience for professionals, offering a versatile and high-quality solution and simplifying multichannel mixing by eliminating the need for traditional physical speaker setups. With Okeanos Pro, switching between different formats is effortless, requiring just a single click. Okeanos Pro features up to 16 virtual loudspeakers that simulate real loudspeakers, fully immersing users in a rich audio environment. This groundbreaking technology provides audio engineers with the ability to experience their content as if they were surrounded by actual loudspeakers, supporting all currently available multi-channel formats, and allowing switching within seconds. The system integrates seamlessly with studio hardware via standard Audio over IP (AoIP) connectivity solutions, such as Dante and Ravenna. Brandenburg Labs founder and CEO, Karlheinz Brandenburg, a world-renowned scientist and entrepreneur best known as the co-inventor of the groundbreaking MP3 format, stated, “From the early proof of concept, we put in a lot of work to make the system ready for real-world usage. Now, we’ve made it and are beginning to sell our systems to professional studios and educational institutions worldwide.” Okeanos Pro is currently in use at leading universities and institutions, including PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hasselt, Belgium, and SAE Institute Switzerland AG in Zurich, Switzerland, where the Okeanos Pro pioneering technology is elevating educational experiences in immersive audio and providing a benchmark for research and development, not only setting the stage for future advancements in audio technology but also enhancing the experience of mixing, mastering, and critical evaluation. NYU in NY has also already gained experience with Brandenburg Lab’s Deep Dive Audio technology and was a pilot customer for the predecessor system. In the future, NYU also wants to work with the new Okeanos Pro. SAE Zurich, and PXL University’s music department, students and researchers are now engaging with advanced immersive audio via headphones, gaining hands-on experience in a cutting-edge environment. “The Okeanos Pro is a valuable tool for adequately assessing and improving 3D audio mixes. Due to its realistic playback capability, it increases students’ awareness of how our ears perceive sound and what effect the direction of the individual tracks in the mix has on the consumer,” stated Lasse Nipkow, 3D audio lecturer at SAE Zurich. “PXL-Music is pleased to have the first research lab equipped with the Okeanos Pro, now serving as a reference for convincing binaural audio in six degrees of freedom. Beyond the high-quality, neutral, and versatile engine, we especially like the unique feature of sampling and integrating the actual room’s acoustics,” said Dr. Brecht De Man, Head of Research at PXL University.
