Oakland Has $475 Million For Howard Terminal Ballpark; Why Did Project Manager Molly Maybrun Leave? - ATLNews

Oakland Has $475 Million For Howard Terminal Ballpark; Why Did Project Manager Molly Maybrun Leave? After claiming that Oakland had raised $360 million for Howard Terminal with grants - when a timely implementation of tax increment financing under the Enhanced Infrastructure Financing after California Govenor Gavin Newsom signed SB 293 Skinner into law October 11th, 2019 and by immediately starting the process - after years of slowing around, and now the in-process departure of the Oakland Athletics to Las Vegas to become the Las Vegas Athletics, now a spokesperson for Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao cries "WE HAVE IT!" A spokesperson for Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao trotted out the City of Oakland's latest whopper: that they had $475 million and were just $101 million short of what was needed. That's completely baseless and more game playing. For example, where did the idea that $576 million would put them over the hump? Especially since community benefits, alone, total $450 million. Oakland Should Just Finish Coliseum City And Shift The Grants To That Project After all of this back and forth and a review of the documents and the economics, I have come to one conclusion: Oakland should just finish Coliseum City anyway. It needs the investment and Oakland needs a symbol for a positive economic future. On top of that, the African American Sports And Entertainment Group needs investment help at the Coliseum. Stay tuned.
