Oakland Raiders NFL Stadium Project: Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Enters Picture
Oakland Raiders NFL Stadium Project: Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Enters Picture Oakland's quest to retain the Raiders took series of giant steps last week. First, according to a regular source, the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda sent off the latest version of the Lott / Fortress Oakland Raiders NFL Stadium Plan to the National Football League. Details of the documents were not shared with this vlogger. The second item of news was first reported in this space, and recenly confirmed in a public setting by NFL Hall Of Fame Defensive Back and Stadium Developer Ronnie Lott. Talking about the staidum plan, Lott told a group that Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross was approached and is “involved” in the proposal. Just what the nature of that involvement is at this point, is not known – except that Mr. Ross talked to Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf. But, that another NFL Owner is involved with the plans for a stadium for an NFL Owner is, in itself, huge news. And, considering that Mr. Ross' The Related Companies owns the 22 acre Lion Creek Crossings, right across the Coliseum BART Station from the Oakland Coliseum Complex, it just makes good business sense. It also not only massively boosts Oakland's effort to retain the Raiders, but could point to the creation of a true state of the art stadium complex. The other question is has Mr. Ross talked to Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis? Stay tuned.
