Odell Beckham 84 Yard TD Catch On Option Route Odell Beckham's 84 yard TD catch is based on an option route concept that was obvious, but not discussed. In many modern passing attacks, a receiver is given a choice or option route: in Beckham's case, he looked at the free safety and once that player moved forward, leaving the middle open, the receiver races by running a post pattern - which is what Beckham did. The result was the 84 yard touchdown catch. Giants 31, Dolphins 24 with 7 minutes left.

The news came with some controversy because some believed the horse American Pharaoh should have got it. But the award is for a person and not a horse. Serena Williams is a lovely woman who has faced too much racist commentary from some very sick and largely anonymous sources. Those people will suffer continued mental anguish as more black women rise to high pop culture status. Meanwhile congrats to Serena Williams. Stay tuned.

The Raiders star linebacker got five sacks and tied a team record held by Howie Long for years. But the fact remains that Broncos QB Brock Osweiler was 33 of 51 for 308 yards - but when it mattered most the Raiders would not let them score. The Raiders Offense was terrible and Derek Carr seemed off with his passes at times and not due to scheme. But the Raiders Defense coached by Ken Norton Jr and with Khalil Mack made up for that. Late Show with Stephen Colbert is my favorite talk show but it is suffering from poor ratings since its hit debut. The problem is not political or anything to do with his political views. It's simple: he does not land a lot of head- turning guests. Plus his social media effort is terrible. Colbert needs to get star guests who have large Twitter followers and get them to help promote the show. How about getting folks like Nicki Minaj or Amanda Bynes? More often than not, his guests are no one I have ever heard of before! Just saying.
