John Lewis, Donald Trump Is The Legitimate President Of The United States

John Lewis, Donald Trump Is The Legitimate President Of The United States
John Lewis, Donald Trump Is The Legitimate President Of The United States John Lewis said that President-Elect Donald Trump is not a legitimate President. As much as I would like to reverse the clock and change the outcome of the election, everytime I think about that, I am reminded in my memory of how we, Democrats, failed to really come together under one unifying message. A lot of us were ignored by those in the DNC who achieved power-positions. Even long-time credentialed bloggers like me were ignored by the Clinton-controlled DNC brass, and left out of covering the 2016 Democratic National Convention. I told then DNC Interim Chairperson Donna Brazile via email that the GOP had a better organized blog and social media effort than we did. What kind of reaction did I get? Nothing other than a sentence about “focusing on this off thread” - then no outreach at all. There are a lot of Democratic operatives, people who were held in high-regard during the Obama years, who were largely forgotten or ignored by the Clinton types who believed it was their turn. Only a handful of Obama operatives managed to make the jump to the Clinton campaign, and that was that. I could go on and on about how so-called micro-targeters told me that their micro-message campaign would deep-reach key demographic groups with the right words. Yeah. Right. Democratic candidate after democratic candidate didn't get the most important and decades-old memo: it's the jobs. All anyone wants to know is are you going to create more jobs in their back yard and reduce their cost of living – the rest is conversation. Donald Trump got the memo – we Democrats, at least the Clinton types, didn't. That's why we lost. We lost because many young blacks, absent a sea of new African American political leaders to vote for, sat at home, rather than go vote on election day. We lost because independent whites who voted for Obama, turned around and backed Donald Trump against Hillary Clinton. We lost because we didn't get enough true votes in key states, but then when it became clear that the vote-count should be redone, we were blocked by the GOP, and didn't have a sea of backers fighting like hell to overcome them. And so now, Georgia Representative Lewis, here we are, collectively pissed off over a guy who's overwheming candor so shocked us we considered him unelectable – all the while he was being elected. A guy who just may have received help from the Russians, and should be investigated. A guy who encouraged a nation long our enemy to hack us. Donald Trump did all of that, and more. And he won the Electoral College. He's POTUS. Until someone or something happens that proves otherwise, Donald Trump is President of The United States Of America. We can argue and whine, but Trump is POTUS. President Obama, perhaps one of the greatest leaders of the 21st Century, paved the way for us to accept and welcome President Trump. Obama understands that we must maintain a perfect union. Let's help him do that, John Lewis, let's help him do that. Stay tuned.

This Lott-Oakland Raiders Term Sheet Change Could Keep NFL From Relocation

This Lott-Oakland Raiders Term Sheet Change Could Keep NFL From Relocation
This Lott-Oakland Raiders Term Sheet Change Could Keep NFL From Relocation The Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis is said to intend to file for relocating his NFL team to Las Vegas some time between now and February 15th of this year. And, yes, for the second time in as many years. Why Mark Davis hates Oakland so much is a question he will not answer. Since Oakland has a mayoral election every four years, blaming Mayor Libby Schaaf for his actions is nothing more than bull-corn. But, whatever the reason, here we are again dealing with another Davis move that shows he's great at alienating his fan base. Or does he really want to do that? According to comments by NFL Senior Vice President Eric Grubman, the former Goldman Sachs partner who's the league's stadium point person, the problem with the proposal that was assembled by The Oakland City Pro Football Group, or called “The Lott Group” with Fortress Investments is that the NFL and the Raiders were not given the chance to own the stadium land. Here's the main part of the term sheet which is of concern to Grubman and the Raiders: “The City and the County will also convey approximately 105 net acres of real property at the Coliseum Site, with conveyance of another possible 25 net acres at the Coliseum Site (i.e., the 10 acre Arena site and the 15 acres reserved for a possible A's ballpark) contingent on that property being added to the Project Site under the conditions set forth in the Project Components discussion above, to the Lott Group pursuant to the terms of the DDA (together, the "Land Conveyance"). (The terms under which the Transit Hub Site will be conveyed for the Project will be negotiated by the City and the Lott Group during the Exclusive Negotiation Period.) The land transaction described above has an estimated value of approximately $150 million. The consideration for the Land Conveyance will be the grant of participation rights in Project revenues by the Lott Group to the City and County as further described below.” Note that the sole organization that gets the Coliseum site is “the Lott Group.” The problem with the term sheet is that, while it mentions a desire to partner with the National Football League, it does not hold out the NFL and the Raiders as true, equal partners in the deal. That is the reason for Grubman's reaction and claim that the new Fortress deal is no different than what has been done in the past. So, with that in mind, here's my suggested adjustment in the Lott-Oakland Raiders Term Sheet: First: “The City and the County will also convey approximately 105 net acres of real property at the Coliseum Site to the National Football League and The Oakland Raiders in partnership with The Lott Group, and under terms to be determined via all parties, and with conveyance of another possible 25 net acres at the Coliseum Site (i.e., the 10 acre Arena site and the 15 acres reserved for a possible A's ballpark) contingent on that property being added to the Project Site under the conditions set forth in the Project Components discussion above, to the Lott Group pursuant to the terms of the DDA (together, the "Land Conveyance"). (The terms under which the Transit Hub Site will be conveyed for the Project will be negotiated by the City and the Lott Group during the Exclusive Negotiation Period.) The land transaction described above has an estimated value of approximately $150 million. The consideration for the Land Conveyance will be the grant of participation rights in Project revenues by the National Football League and The Oakland Raiders in partnership with The Lott Group to the City and County as further described below.” The change adds the following words: “to the National Football League and The Oakland Raiders in partnership with The Lott Group, and under terms to be determined via all parties”. In effect, the Lott Group would be acquiring the land on behalf of the NFL and the Oakland Raiders, and then agreeing to a deal structure where the NFL and the Raiders control most of the stadium land, and the Lott Group controls all of the additional 25 acres of property. That sets up an entirely different business relationship than what currently exists. It's a simple change to make, and according to preliminary conversations I have had with some involved in the matter, it's a good idea to pursue. My simple point is to give them what they want. Take away as many avenues to the Raiders and the NFL relocating out of Oakland without spending tax dollars. Stay tuned.

Goldman Sachs No Salve For Oakland Raiders Sheldon Adelson Issues In Las Vegas

Goldman Sachs No Salve For Oakland Raiders Sheldon Adelson Issues In Las Vegas
Goldman Sachs No Salve For Oakland Raiders Sheldon Adelson Issues In Las Vegas The Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis has reportedly told the members of the finance and stadium committees of the NFL Owners Group that the organization has a plan to finance the construction of a new stadium with or without Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson. That's a tall order that, when one starts to think about it, doesn't really pass the stadium financing smell test. Take a look at why with me. Oakland Raiders: $500 million Nevada Subsidy $750 million Stadium Cost Gap 1 $350 million Total Stadium Cost $1.6 billion The problem is that without Sheldon Adelson's help, there's still a $350 million stadium cost gap that would have to be filled if the total cost was $1.6 billion and not $1.9 billion. Its not enough for the Raiders to say that Goldman Sachs will finance the stadium without Adelson, and because they're not investors – they're investment bankers. Goldman Sachs's speciality is in bonds and loans for, in this case, the construction of NFL stadiums. If they were to give the $350 million to fill the gap, it would have to be matched by some stadium-related revenue stream that would throw off $350 million over some period of time. Think about this. Goldman is not going to just say, “Hey Raiders! Here's $350 million, and don't worry because you will not have to pay us back!” You believe that's the case, you're a fool. What Goldman would want is what Sheldon Adelson wants, and that means a percentage of stadium revenues necessary to raise $350 million. Where would that come from? Well, the Raiders have already pledged $500 million from stadium-related revenues and NFL loans. But really that's just $200 million from the sale of personal seat licenses. So, right off the bat, the Raiders have to shave off $550 million in stadium revenue to help pay for it's construction. Chances are, naming rights will be about $150 million at best, which gets The Raiders less than halfway to the mark. The remaining gap would have to be filled by luxury box revenue, but when you start to run those numbers, the remaining answer means the Raiders would wind up using all of their luxury box revenue for stadium construction, and nothing would be left over for the team's use. Think about it. Let's say the proposed Oakland Raiders Las Vegas NFL stadium has 137 luxury boxes, each costing an average of $80,000. Assuming a 100 percent sales rate – all 137 suites – that comes to $10,960,000 a year. Over a 30 year period (the length of the bond issue tied to the Nevada Subsidy of $750 million) that comes to $328 million. So we could use luxury box revenue to fill most of the $350 million gap, or we would wind up using $178 million of that if the Raiders landed a naming rights agreement of $150 million. That still means The Raiders would use 54 percent of luxury box revenues for stadium construction. And that's if the stadium manages to cost $1.6 billion – if it went to $1.75 billion or higher, then both naming rights revenues and luxury suite revenues would be entirely used to pay for the stadium's construction. The Raiders would use 100 percent of both sources – no money for the team. Mark Davis can't be happy with that prospect. Moreover, I can't see how his meeting with the NFL Owners, who know this as well as I do, went so well at all. Davis can't do this without Adelson or another investor. That group or person is going to want their cut – there's no avoiding it. Davis' only way is by having development around the stadium – but that calls for a new developer and investor. Kind of like Majestic Realty. Remember them? The ones who brought $150 million? Bet Davis wishes he had them back in about now. Davis should stay in Oakland.
