But Smith has dinner with now retired Capt William Ceravolo, who was one of eight or nine New Orleans Police Officers who shot Hayes mentally ill father during Hurricane Katrina. Hayes and others sued and settler a wrongful death lawsuit in 2011. Regardless, killing Smith was just plain wrong. Hayes says alcohol was involved but did not say he defended himself. He is being held on $1 million bail.
