Kevin Durant To Warriors Because Nike Promised To Up Sponsorship to $300 Million

Kevin Durant To Warriors Because Nike Promised To Up Sponsorship to $300 Million
Kevin Durant To Warriors Because Nike Promised To Up Sponsorship to $300 Million Kevin Durant has a lot of reasons to want to join the Golden State Warriors during NBA Free Agency and announce his decision to do so on this 4th of July. The Warriors had the NBA's best record in history, and he becomes the answer to the riddle of how to deal with bangers in the middle like LeBron James. But perhaps the biggest reason was one just told to me by a friend who's in a high place to know, and that is that Nike promised to increase their sponsorship of Kevin Durant to $300 million over 10 years. While no one else has reported that yet, if you think about where he's going to, the San Francisco Bay Area, the logic behind the report makes sense. The SF Bay Area, of which Oakland and San Francisco are at its center, commands one of the top five highest rates to air a commercial in America. That's reflective not only of population size but buying power: San Francisco and San Jose are ranked numbers one and three in terms of urban economic output in a survey conducted last year. Those are just two of many ways of saying that Kevin Durant is going to a much larger media market than he was in, in Oklahoma City. Stay tuned.
